The makeup room is where the story unfolds bit by bit, where the bride’s emotions are raw and unmasked for us to see, the excitement of the big event palpable and a nervous energy the theme of the room.
Amidst all the brouhaha, we find beauty in the little things and in the details.
We take you through a few of our most favorite shots – we call them The Green Room Diary.
- Portraits –
Every bride is different, and portraits are our attempt to capture the varying emotions that women go through, and the culture they represent.
- Lehenga/ Gown –
It would be a crime to not get a picture of the breathtaking piece of work that is the bride’s wedding attire. The bride spends a LOT of time on getting this right. It is second only to the groom!
It is sometimes a challenge to find the right spot, but we manage to fit it in – the brides usually love the lehenga shots.
- Footwear –
Comes right after the lehenga, thus completing the entire wedding ensemble.
Together, they tell a story. A bride’s footwear gives us a glimpse of her life outside of the makeup room and everybody knows a girl loves shoes! (or shoe shots)
- Jewellery –
Rich. Royal. Heritage. Heirloom. Enough said.
- Parents/ Grand parents –
This is where it all began, here the story started. More often than not, the parents are busy arranging things at the venue while the bride is getting ready. And the parents decide to turn up ten minutes before the wedding to have a sneak peak of their little baby girl turn into a gorgeous bride 🙂
Else, they are sitting right there helping their daughter turn into a bride. Either way, it makes for a pretty picture.
Emotions run like wild fire at this moment – If you are an emotional kind of a person, we suggest keeping tissues handy!
- Friends –
Laughter. Madness. Frantic moments. Tantrums. Craziness. Selfies. Pictures. Random conversations. Mad Laughter again.
There are times when the bride’s best friends decide to get ready in the same room. While they take 15 mins to get ready, they patiently wait for their best friend turn into a bride.
The other times, they turn up 10 mins before the wedding and go bonkers when they see their best friend.
- Fiance –
Not ALL grooms get to see their bride just before the wedding. But some lucky ones do. They simply cannot resist the sneak peek!
- Bridal makeup shots –
Oh yes. That’s why we are there right !
- Food/ Coffee/ Drinks/ Break –
Stay hydrated – That’s what we keep telling the bride before the wedding.
- The Story is in the details:
- Selfies 🙂
So here you go !
That’s all from us for now.
P.S. You don’t have to capture everything at every wedding. But the idea is to get as many emotions as possible in every wedding. It definitely helps in story telling and also helps you grow as a photographer.
